An Easy Turmeric Face Mask

Hi, Beautiful! I'd be surprised if you hadn't heard about all the health benefits of turmeric. It's seriously awesome for your inside AND outside. I wanted to share an easy DIY turmeric face mask that will help fight breakouts AND lighten your skin.

First, I'll fill you in on turmeric.

What is Turmeric?

You'll find turmeric in the spice section. [Look for the bottle of bright golden yellow powder.] It's a cousin of ginger and is used as a spice in cooking, a dye for fabrics, and a general health tonic. A lot of people make a tea out of it [mixed with lemon and honey] and even take it in capsule form like a vitamin.

The kicker ingredient in turmeric is curcumin and it's been used in India for more than 2,500 years. Some of the known benefits that relate to skin include:

  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Anti-bacterial
  • May prevent and help cure melanoma
  • Helps the liver to detox
  • Natural painkiller
  • Speeds up the healing and rejuvenation of damaged skin
  • May help psoriasis

Turmeric Face Mask Recipe

It couldn't be easier to make this mask. All you do is mix together 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon honey.

A couple of warnings—remember I mentioned it's a dye for fabrics? That means it WILL stain your clothes, so watch out, And, if you're pregnant, it's considered a "uterine stimulant" so'll definitely want to be checking with your doctor before you take it in any significant amounts. [No worries with the face mask!]

Both honey and lemon have their own anti-bacterial and lightening powers, which makes this one powerful mask. Oh, and don't forget to stay hydrated—especially if you're having any breakouts. The purifying benefits of water will also be a big help for any problems you're having with your skin.

If this doesn't help your acne or hyper-pigmentation, come see me. Seriously, that's what I'm here for and I CAN help you. Send me a message and let's talk about what's up with your skin:
